LONDON GRAMMAR

'Darling Are You Gonna Leave Me'
Another beautiful track from this London based trio, dreamy echoing guitar strings roll around upon trip-hop inspired percussions. Notably the most outstanding layer of the record is once again Hannah Reid’s irresistibly sultry vocals, paired with mesmerizing lyrics it makes for a magnificent combination. I can’t get enough of this track and how it is a piece of such contrast it begins so gently with exposed guitars and vocals, then it slowly grows into an up tempo power track. An exquisite piece of work.

Their current EP titled Metal & Dust is currently available on iTune HERE

HAUL OF BANDS

In one fail swoop last week I crossed paths with 3 exciting and inspiring bands, a rare occurrence that I am very grateful for. My music collection mainly consists of masses of new electronic music and classic indie bands from back in the day, the music scene is littered with electronic and synth based groups and artists so normally I have to set aside an afternoon to hunt for new bands that use guitars and real drum kits, so refreshing was it to stumble upon these works of art by accident!

Climbing Boys

I have written a review about their debut EP for Scientists of Sound which can be found HERE. Post punk - pop fusion London based band are really worth keeping an eye on.

Facebook Climbing Boys

Fletcher

This Chicago three piece have managed to take a mass of influences from a wide spectrum of artists through genres and decades to create something very unique, they could easily be compared to The Arctic Monkeys, Pink Floyd and Mystery Jets in one track alone.

Soda Fabric

This Atlantis based band have a beachy pop approach whilst still holding onto an air of punk with their chanting choruses. They have the latest single 'Swim' available for free download HERE.

GLASS CANDY - GETO BOYS

A mesmeric and sultry new upload from Glass Candy this month, recorded in 2008 this track has survived the test of time and manages to totally blow my brains. The effortlessly seductive vocals of Ida No glide on top of glittering disco grooves, piecing together samples from the Geto Boys 1991 hit 'Mind Playing Tricks On Me".

Glass Candy have also recently released "The Possessed" in an extended edit which premiered at a recent `Paris fashion show, this displays throbbing beats and ambient creeping synths, well worth a listen.

TIGER TSUNAMI

ANTARTICA

Solo artist Christian parker creates a blissful atmosphere with gentle keys and swaying guitars which tame the choppy hip hop inspired beats and jumpy vocals. This is a daydream inducing track, gentle and euphoric by nature.

WAVES

Waves takes the gentle approach of this project a little darker, this still makes for a ambient and soothing experience however there is an eeriness that surrounds the beats that cannot be mistaken.   Tiger Tsunamis debut EP is currently being prepped and is due for release this summer, rumour has it a track is to be release during May.

FOL CHEN – I.O.U

Almost 3 years ago I fell in love with a track named ‘TheHolograms’ by a band called Fol Chen, at the time I generally listened to music than landed in front of me with little interest in hunting anything else by the artist unless an album was easy to access. The result of this was a much loved track that slowly left my memory… Until I found I.O.U.

This seductive track has the ability to be incredibly catchy and dance inducing whilst still remaining an air of mystery. It provides sparse verses, sensual vocals, tickling guitar grooves with echoing drum kicks and a dramatic string-laden ending, this makes for something very beautiful but also quite odd.

I.O.U opened my eyes to their most recent LP False Alarms which has recently been released on Asthma Kitty….
